Selecting your Dj at Your Wedding Reception

First and foremost, make sure that you feel comfortable with the company representative that you talk to during your first contact. If not, move on.....there are a lot of choices out there. Remember, the DJ company you choose will play a big part in the success or failure of your reception. You must like the people you are dealing with!

Second, don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions. Most people rarely hire a DJ in their lifetime, so you are not alone if you feel like you aren't sure what to ask. Any company that isn't more than happy to help you get what you want, and answer all of your questions, should send up a warning sign.

Finally, try to resist shopping price. Most wedding horror stories involving a DJ start with a couple who found a cheap company or individual. Most people budget thousands of dollars for their wedding.....ask yourself if it makes sense to save a hundred dollars on what will probably be the most important factor in determining the success of your reception. You really do get what you pay for.

Here are some ideas of the things you should be looking for or asking your DJ company: A quality DJ company should have at least five years experience and be able to provide good references. It is probably a good idea to stick with a name company that operates full-time rather than take a chance on an individual who may or may not be around when you need them. While there are certainly some good individuals out there, if something happens to them before your wedding, you're out of luck. With a quality company, there are always backup systems in place.

A quality company should provide trained employees of their company rather than contracting out your event to a subcontractor where they will have little if any quality control.Make sure everything you are promised is presented to you in a written contract.Call the company you are considering during off hours.Do they have a 24-hour emergency system? If not, how can they be reached if their DJ doesn't show up, say in the event of an accident.
