Elvis Theme Wedding
You’ve got
your hunka hunka burning love, but you don’t want a Hound Dog of a wedding!
An Elvis themed wedding will have your guests loving you tender long after the
events of the big day!
An Elvis themed wedding can really be as elegant or as casual as you would like.
Choose your gown based on how formal you would like your wedding. Elvis was a
Las Vegas staple, and a formal gown, dripping with beads and crystals plays
right into that side of Elvis. You could also think along the lines of Elvis’
Blue Hawaii period and go with a more casual gown that reflects a laid back,
beach type of atmosphere.
Dressing your bridesmaids and groomsmen is the perfect way to incorporate the
famous Blue Suede Shoes. Contact your local shoe stores or look online for blue
suede shoes to put your groom and his attendants in with their tuxedoes, and
then choose a matching shade of blue for the gowns your bridesmaids will wear.
For a fun twist that will have your guests smiling and anticipating a fun filled
reception to come, have your black tuxedoed groom enter the wedding wearing blue
suede shoes, attended by a group of ushers who are all dressed as Elvis
impersonators for the big day.
Your wedding flowers can carry through with the blue suede shoes theme if you
choose blue hued bouquets, or white bouquets wrapped in blue ribbons. For an
elegant effect, add rhinestones or Swarovski crystals to your bouquets, keeping
Elvis’ Vegas connection in mind.
Skip the traditional wedding march, and walk toward your groom to Elvis singing
“Can’t Help Falling In Love With You”. This guarantees there won’t be a dry eye
in the house, as you walk toward your waiting sweetie to one of Elvis’ greatest
love songs.
Take a cue from Elvis’ Graceland décor in choosing linens and other items to
decorate your reception location. Your guests can be seated at tables that are
each named after one of Elvis’ many popular songs, and each table can have a
centerpiece that reflects the song you’ve chosen. Instead of table numbers,
scour vintage record stores to find 45 records of Elvis songs, and use the vinyl
as the basis for your centerpieces.
Your guests will be thrilled with an Elvis inspired menu. Elvis loved home
style, southern comfort foods, with a few odd favorites. You can treat your
guests to butlered Elvis style hors d’oeuvres like miniature cheeseburgers and
milkshake shots; or fancy cut fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Small,
country style biscuit sandwiches with Virginia baked ham make nice appetizers,
as would fresh hush puppies and a selection of southern inspired dipping sauces.
For the main meal, Elvis was a true meat and potatoes man, so you could offer
your guests a country style meatloaf or pork chops with some fancier side
dishes. To reflect Elvis’ many Vegas shows, you could go with a full buffet, but
make sure to include a few of Elvis’ favorites so your guests are reminded of
the theme as they make their platters.
Have your disc jockey play all of your Elvis favorites throughout the reception,
but for a fun twist, find versions of Elvis songs performed by other recording
artists to give your Elvis themed reception a varied sound that will appeal to
all of your guests. This will keep people
