Angel Theme Wedding
Your love affair has been absolute heaven on earth, so
why not celebrate with an angel theme wedding? The sweet faced cherubs bring to
mind Cupid, romance, and love, and would be the perfect way to celebrate your
special day.
When planning your angel theme wedding, you want to bring in things that conjure
up images of all things ethereal. Light colored, billowy fabrics, twinkle
lights, and gold accents would be a great way to set the mood. Bring in Greek
columns, and use twinkle lights and ivy to entwine the columns to frame areas of
your reception – the couple’s table, the cake table, the dance floor. The
fabrics should be light, soft to the touch, and draped so they give a lush but
soft appearance.

The bride’s attire should also be soft and sweet. A
flowing, draped dress with a simple crown of flowers like baby’s breath and
delicate pink roses will give you the perfect angelic appearance. Consider a
simple satin ballet style shoe and a simple bouquet of pale flowers, using ivory
and paler shades of pink roses. You might want to add a little ivy to your
bouquet to tie in with ivy you might use on the Grecian style columns you can
use to decorate the location for your reception
The bridesmaids gowns can be a simple Grecian style, maybe in gold or a pale
shade, think along the lines of a toga. You don’t have to have it look like a
frat party, and you will find some very elegant Grecian style gowns. A nice look
to complement the ethereal look would be to dress them in an ivory or even a
white with simple beading in pink or gold. You might want to opt for a lit
votive in a crystal candle holder for the bridesmaids instead of flowers, or use
white twinkle lights in their bouquets to give them an angelic glow. You will
find battery operated twinkle lights around the holidays or order them online.
For a really cute idea, dress your flower girls as angels, complete with wings,
and give them some glitter to sprinkle down the aisle instead of flower petals.
In a candlelit ceremony – which lends itself perfectly to this theme – the
glitter will catch and reflect the light as it is sprinkled and will look
beautiful to your guests.
Many of the angel theme wedding invitations you will find will have cherubs on
them. These are adorable and romantic, and will call to mind Cupid and the
essence of romance. You may also find a more Victorian looking angel on some
invitations. Don’t be afraid to have your own style reflected in custom made
invitation. If you see an angel you like, contact your printer or do them
yourself on your printer. You could also use just a simple, pastel colored
invitation with gold ink and gold foil envelope liners, and sprinkle a little
“angel dust” (glitter) inside each invitation.
When your guests walk into your reception, they will want to be transformed to
the heaven you feel when you are in the arms of your beloved, so keep the lights
dim and add those twinkle lights everywhere. Bring in bare trees, wrapped in the
white lights, maybe sprayed with a little glitter to help them shine. Drape
tulle or a light colored satin type fabric from the ceiling, with twinkle lights
hidden inside the fabric to give the room a soft, heavenly glow. Use angel
figurines and holiday ornaments where you can to set the mood. The centerpieces
on your tables should be candles, pale pink roses, a little ivy, and perhaps a
scattering of pure, white feathers, which would give the hint that the angels
had a hand in preparing for your big day. A really fun and very pretty touch
would be white and pale pink balloons tied with long silver or gold ribbons
hanging over your dance floor. This will absolutely give the reception an
otherworldly feel.
Anything goes for food for this type of wedding, but consider an angel ice
sculpture as a centerpiece on your buffet table if you choose to have a buffet,
or on the bar if you are having a sit down meal. And keep with the billowy
fabrics on all of your buffet tables.
Your guests will certainly remember the heavenly time they’ve had at your
reception with a favor like an angel holiday ornament or an angel figurine. You
can also find angel photo frames and other angel collectibles that would make
nice favors. Something they might really enjoy are miniature angel food cakes,
wrapped in cellophane, tied with gold foil ribbons, and a thank you note
attached that says something like “Thank you for making our day heavenly!”.
Other food favors that would be a hit include homemade divinity fudge or fluffy
white meringues, both taste like they were made by angels and look like the
clouds above!
